Chapter 3 |
|
God says, "Try us! Taste and see that the Lord is good. Prove us." Ps. 34:8; 1 Thess. 5:21. They practically beg us to give them a chance. They are calling out to all of us, "Let us show you how much we love you. We will smother you in love. Surely you will love us then. Ask us anything! If it is safe to give it to you, at this time, under these circumstances, then it is yours! Come on, give us a chance!"
I took God up on His offer and had 200 prayer request answered in three months. Now it is your turn to see that God loves you and keeps His word. Let us take God up on His offer. Below you will see a prayer request form. Print out 5 of them. Each one is for one prayer request. Start your prayer requests lists by listing, on each page, one prayer request. Make the most of these lists. Begin by listing the five most important requests you can think of that you feel are necessary to your spiritual growth that you know God is more than willing to give to you. Pray three times a day for each individual request on your list. When God answers one of your requests tell everyone you meet what you
are doing, and how God answered one of your requests. In this way, you can
be a witness to the love, and mercy of God, without having to preach a
sermon. Thank God, the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost personally for their
mercy and favor towards you. Replace answered prayers with new requests
below the one answered. Keep a list of five requests at all times one on
each page.
Everytime a prayer request is answered your faith in God will grow along with your love for Him, and your desire to pray. If you have to pray for the same five things for forty years, do it! Ask and you shall receive! Even if you prayed the same thing for forty years, and your prayer request were never answered, what have you lost? What do you have to lose ... death, hell, selfishness, and sinfulness? All we have to lose is the very things we want to lose! Right? Before I close this chapter, I would like to share something I have
learned vital to my thinking. It is the miniature version of the life of
Abraham. Abraham was promised a son by God. Years later no son. Sarah told
Abraham to help God out by having a son with her bondservant Hagar. A
child was born unto Abraham and Sarah's bondservant. But God returned to
Abraham and repeated his promise to Abraham to give him a
son. At that time Sarah and Abraham's bodies were useless for bearing a
child. Abraham believed God. Years and years and years after initially
giving the promise, twenty-five years to be exact, God fulfilled His word.
Abraham's secret? Faith and endurance. And it was counted to him for
righteousness.
